- Hi,
I'm José Menezes, a visual designer from Porto

I draw, I design, I code... I create!

In the last years I’ve been using my broad creative skill set in the field of UX and UI Design, making digital products look easy to use and understand.

With Arts and Design as background, I'm dedicated to see new projects "coming to life", from concept to realization. I take pride in my work.

Recently busy with:

Collibra

2017 - 2022 . Data startup

The Collibra Platform helps large institutions and companies around the world handling their data efficiently.

I started to work there in 2017 as a UX/UI product designer, in its then-small design team, on a multitude of projects simultaneously - crazy fast-paced environment, characteristic of growing startups. In early 2019, Collibra reached the status of "unicorn" startup.

As the design team started to grow, I gradually focused more on the organization of the product’s interface, collaborating with a small - but great - team of developers. I led efforts on building up the first version of the Collibra Design System.

Due to the confidential nature of my agreement with Collibra, I cannot fully present projects here; just an overview.

Collibra Design System

Building up the “single-source of truth” of the Collibra Platform’s UI - that consolidates product styles, UI components and design patterns - in the shape of a documentation website with interactive examples and usage tips.

The main goals were to enable a consistent user experience across the Platform and facilitate/speed-up the work of designers and developers.

The Collibra Design System proved to be especially useful to guide newly-joined developers.

Design Library

Managing the Design team’s Library, with fully functional product components and styles, and revamping it for scalability.

It has been extensively used by product designers to create mockups and prototypes.

UI Components design

Designing UI components according to product teams’ and business’ needs.

Thorough process covering functionality, structure, styling, interaction, common and edge case scenarios, full accessibility compliance and technical feasibility.

Customization

Preparing the product styles to be customized/white-labelled by Collibra customers, to reflect their own branding.

Data Catalog and Governance

Making Collibra users’ lives easier by making complex data look simpler and accessible to work with.

User mentioning (@mentions)

Improving collaboration between Collibra users through mentions and notifications in comments.

Rating and Reviews

Engaging Collibra users to contribute to the quality of their company’s data through rating and reviewing data assets.

WYSIWYG Text Editor

Revamping the WYSIWYG text editor, for a powerful and comfortable experience for users entering rich content in the Collibra Platform.

Notification e-mails

Organizing and restyling the Collibra Platform’s notification e-mail templates.

and many more...

Apps, Browser extension, Search portals, Product landing pages - the list goes on.

Bare Bone

The Bare Bone Library is a ‘raw’, functional Library of UI components developed by me in Figma (design software). Aiming to debut in the Figma Community in Summer 2023.

It works as a skeleton library. UX and UI designers can directly use it to create wireframes, or as a solid foundation for their own library of components. Quick to customize, with little clean-up to do.

Note: I'm not affiliated with Figma.

Quick to use

Bare Bone components are organized in a way that makes searching for them easy.
They can be resized and adjusted via the controls panel.

Easy to customize

Taking advantadge of Figma's auto-layout functionality, components are ready to be customized - for example changing measurements or content.

Take it further

The Bare Bone Library can be customized as much as designers need!
